Page 5: About Experience Points
As you do battle, or complete quests, you gain
Experience Points (EXP). These are vital to become stronger. All characters will gain the same amount of EXP, under normal circumstances.
Should a character be dead, they will receive no EXP. Should they be revived during that battle, the EXP they gain will be halved instead.
Should a character lose consciousness, they will receive quartered EXP. Should they regain consciousness, they will instead gain half the EXP.
Leveling Up:Gaining a level awards 5 stat points to spend on any stat
except HP, SMP and MP.
Gaining a level awards 10 points to spend
only on HP, SMP and MP; each point is worth 3 points to HP, SMP and MP, rather than 1 point.
Some items, when equipped, may increase or decrease the points awarded, or even the stat growth, so keep an eye out for those!
Every five levels, you can choose to change your Element, starting at Level 5.
Every twenty levels, you will be allowed to acquire an additional Element, which follows the same rules.
However, the maximum amount of additional elements that a character may control is
three, making the total elements that a character may possess
four. Five shalt thou not count, neither count thou six. Seven is right out.
In other words: you can unlock a second element at Level 20, a third element at Level 40, and a fourth elemenn at Level 60.
You can change your Ability every four levels (or by the use of a special item),
but it must match your elemental affinity.
You gain additional Abilities for each element you possess control over. As such, the maximum amount of Abilities you may possess is
four.
It is possible to level down, by the way.
While you won't be losing stat bonuses to HP, SMP or MP and your Elements and Abilities will not be affected, your other stats
will be affected.
