Welcome to The Endanian Chronicles NEO's Chessboard!
I'm your forum founder, Cibryll, and it's a pleasu--
* gets eaten by a flower dragon *
… not again! T_T
But enough silliness for a moment.
Rules:
The standard forum rules still apply here, but there's an additional rule here.
If you wish to challenge a member, kindly ask them first. Be it in this thread, in another thread (where it's permitted, at least), or via private message.
The standard rules for chess also apply here. Unfortunately, the chess plugin only supports standard chess, so far I know; if you want to play a variation of chess such as four-handed chess (which requires four players), portal chess (which doesn't require a teleporter),
How to start a match:
To start a match, simply go to the Chessboard and you should hopefully see a "Play Chess" button next to the "Create Thread" button. Click on that button, and a window should pop up where you can enter a username (that is, the name used to mention people with @; in my case, "admin").
Note that the thread starter wlll always be white. This is the key reason for the rule about asking members first!
Don't have a physical board:
1. Click "Game Editor".
2. From the relevant thread here, select and copy the list of previous moves.
3. In the analysis board, click "Paste PGN".
4. Paste the copied moves and click "OK".
You'll then be able to play out the past moves with the arrow buttons, or click "Analysis Board" to make further moves. Should be much easier to read than the ASCII boards we've been using.(From here. Of course, I'm guessing it's for standard chess only, and that's been plugged-in with a plug-in, haha.)
Match's done:
If a match is finished, simply select the empty box next to the thread's name in the Chessboard section, then go to "Actions" and add the "[Done!]" label. This way, we can keep track of finished chess matches without having to worry about getting confuzzled.
Note that, for vanilla chess (which the plugin applies to), the checkmated player has to end the game on their side (they'll get a "You have suffered defeat!" sort of message) and the winning player has to do the same afterwards. (This is the only way to update those chess stats.)
Right, discussion's ready.
What should we do if a member is too inactive? Like, for a week or a month or even a year or longer?
Should there be some sort of forfeit clause or something?
We should probably take into account anything that may prevent a memebr from posting, too, like school or university, or Internet issues, or stuff like that.

If that's the case, you're making things pretty hard for yourself! Here, for anybody who doesn't have a physical board: www.chess.com/analysis-board-editor1. Click "Game Editor".
